Suspicious death in Kaşif Kozinoğlu investigation: Former doctor Turgay Tamer was found dead

The investigation into the death of Kaşif Kozinoğlu, who died in Silivri prison in 2011 while he was detained in the Ergenekon case, continues.

Former forensic doctor Turgay Tamer, who was detained within the scope of the investigation and later released with a judicial control measure, was found dead in his home.

Turgay Tamer was detained in the second wave operation of the investigation. He was released with an "exit ban" on charges of "being a member of a terrorist organization" and "intentional murder".

It was learned that Turgay Tamer was working as a campus doctor in the prison where Kaşif Kozinoğlu was detained at that time. It was noted that Tamer was not informed that Explorer Kozinoğlu's health condition was deteriorating and therefore he did not provide any medical intervention to Kozinoğlu.

On the other hand, it was learned that Turgay Tamer currently has some health problems and therefore has not been able to practice his profession as a doctor for a while.

Kaşif Kozinoğlu was a former maroon beret officer and MİT member.

Kozinoğlu, who served for a long time in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Afghanistan, was arrested in 2011 when he returned to Türkiye from Afghanistan. While Kozinoğlu died of a heart attack after exercising in prison on November 12, 2011, it was noted that it was 13 days before he appeared in court.

Kozinoğlu family said, "He was an athlete, his death is not normal, it should be investigated." He objected, but the investigation was closed a year later.

Allegedly, Kozinoğlu was asking for help when he had a heart attack, but guard Ferhat Veysi Gül turned up the volume on the radio to prevent this sound from being heard. It is later revealed that Gül was a member of FETO and fled abroad after July 15.

The file was reopened after these allegations and old investigations came to the fore.

It is claimed that Kozinoğlu, who has very important information about FETO, may have been poisoned.

The first operation regarding Kozinoğlu's suspicious death was carried out on Monday, September 7, and a detention order was issued for 11 people working in prison.

Among the 10 suspects detained in the first operation, the suspect who was working as a gendarmerie private at that time was arrested. A judicial control decision was given for all 7 suspects.

The second wave operation was carried out on Thursday, September 10. During the operation, 9 suspects, including a cameraman, a reporter and healthcare workers, were detained. The court arrested three people, including journalist Selahattin Günday.

In the third wave operation, an arrest warrant was issued for former prosecutors Ali İşgören and Necip Doğan. House arrest was decided for retired soldiers Hasan Atilla Uğur and Hasan Ataman Yıldırım, who were detained in the same operation.

Former journalist Osman Arslan, who was detained in the fourth wave operation, and Enver Altaylı, who was called to testify, were also arrested.

With the arrest of former police chief Bayram Özbek, who was found to be involved in the Valley of the Wolves scenario, the number of detainees in the investigation increased to eight.
