TRNC Prime Minister Ünal Üstel: Searches inside the ship in the shipwreck off the coast of Kyrenia have been completed

TRNC Prime Minister Ünal Üstel met with the relatives of the missing regarding the latest situation in the search efforts following the shipwreck off the coast of Kyrenia.

At the meeting, the images obtained during the search were shared with the families, and information was given about the scanning and technical studies carried out inside the sunken ship.

Üstel announced that all parts of the ship were reached and that no other bodies were found inside. He stated that sea, land and air operations will continue to reach the missing.

“NO AREA LEFT UNREACHED”

Explaining the search efforts inside the ship, Üstel said:

"Every square meter, every bag and every seat was examined. There was no area left unreached on the ship. During the comprehensive searches, no other body was found inside the ship."

Üstel stated that the body found last week was reached under difficult conditions and emphasized that the completion of the work carried out inside the ship does not mean that the general search activities have ended.

SEARCHES WILL CONTINUE IN THE AIR, ON LAND AND AT SEA

Üstel stated that TCG ALEMDAR also participated in the studies that were started with TCG IŞIN in the first stage after the accident, and that the Optimus Prime–Deep Water ship was used in deep water searches.

Üstel said, "However, our searches are not over. Our work continues in the air, on land and at sea to reach the bodies that may be found under the sea and on the surface of the water."

THE VESSEL'S VDR HAS BEEN REACHED

Explaining that the ship's VDR (Navigational Data Recorder) was also found during the search efforts, Üstel stated that the device was handed over to the police for the necessary investigations.

The data obtained from VDR is expected to be important for the investigation into the accident.

“NO MATTER WHO IT IS, HE WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE IN FRONT OF JUSTICE”

Stating that the legal process regarding the accident is being followed, Üstel said that the court processes are continuing.
