Klopp's DFB premiere: 44 players, two squads and big surprises

Four games, 44 players. A statement from the new national coach. This has never happened before. These include 16 World Cup drivers and 16 players without international appearances. The squads rotate after two out of four games. "We didn't make an A or B team. We want to win all four games," explains Klopp.

Klopp says: "With Nico Schlotterbeck, Jamal Musiala and Serge Gnabry, we have three players who have had a more difficult time. If at all possible, we want to keep the three there every two weeks to give them rhythm and have them in normal team training."

Klopp is planning an international match sharing model with two squads and a player change on September 27th. The so-called “squad 1” will play the Nations League games against Holland in Amsterdam (September 24th) and Greece in Augsburg (September 27th). After the second game, players leave and new ones arrive. “Squad 2” will then play the games against Serbia in Munich (October 1st) and the Greece second leg in Thessaloniki (October 4th).

"The squad nomination was fun. We didn't look at what we didn't have. We looked at what we did have. And I'm really happy with that." Klopp found 44 players that he nominated. "We noticed a lot of talent. So much so that not everyone is there. The U21 squad will be announced tomorrow. There are a lot of great guys there too," he says.

Younes Ebnoutalib (23) from Eintracht Frankfurt has received a call from the national coach and, according to “Bild”, will be part of the German squad for the first time. The Frankfurt-born striker could also play for Morocco, but apparently chose the DFB team. On the first matchday of the new Bundesliga season, he scored all three goals in Eintracht's 3-3 draw at Union Berlin.
