Mayor Altay stated that while they are reviving historical places, they are also keeping the memory of the city alive, and said, "We are bringing to light the hidden values that have been covered up, restoring tired places, bringing the traces of the past together with today's life. TURKEY'S BIGGEST REVIVAL PROJECT "DARÜLMÜLK PROJECT"
Mayor Altay then explained the urban transformation projects and expropriation works carried out throughout Konya in detail, accompanied by a presentation. First of all, Mayor Altay shared the latest situation within the scope of the Darülmülk Project, which is Türkiye's largest revival project, and reminded that they carried out urban transformation and renewal works in 20 different points of the city center with the project carried out together with the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change.
Mayor Altay continued as follows: "We have completed our projects such as Türbeönü Bazaars, Stone Building, renovation of the buildings on Aladdin Street, Warehouse No: 4, Meydan Houses and Velespit Museum. We transferred the Darülmülk Exhibition Palace, which we also completed, to our governorship. Our City Library, which will be Türkiye's first Zero Waste building, which we will bring to the area where our old municipality building is located, and the Great Larende Transformation, which we carried out together with our Meram Municipality, and Mevlana, which we carried out together with our Karatay Municipality." "Our Urban Renewal Project continues. We have completed the demolition of the buildings that have completed their physical life in the Cheese Market. We are carrying out our Cheese Market Urban Transformation Project, one of the important links of our Darülmülk Rejuvenation Project, between the Historical Ottoman Wheat Market and Melike Hatun Bazaar."
Continuing his speech, Mayor Altay gave information about the Nalçacı Street Urban Transformation, Şems-i Tebrizi Neighborhood Urban Transformation, Mengüç Street Urban Transformation, Industrial Zones Urban Transformation, Kadınhanı Urban Transformation, Ilgın Osmanlı City Square Urban Transformation, Beyşehir Eşrefoğlu Mosque and Surroundings Urban Transformation projects.
HE EXPLAINED THE EXPROPRIATION WORKS CONDUCTED IN KONYA CENTER AND DISTRICTS
KONYARAY Commuter Line, Development Road Behind Stone Building Expropriation Work, Central Imam Hatip Front Recreation Area Expropriation Project, Expropriation of important streets in the city center such as Celaleddin Karatay, Sultan Abdülhamid Han, İsmail Ketenci, Alparslan Türkeş, Kazakhstan, Karabağ, Necmettin Erbakan, Küçük Aymanas, Taş Mosque Uzunharmanlar, Beyşehir, Martyr Ömer Halisdemir. Explaining his work, Mayor Altay also talked about the details of the important expropriation works in the regions where the heart of the city beats.
Mayor Altay noted that they did not only limit expropriation efforts to the center but also made very important expropriation moves in the districts, and gave detailed information about the expropriation works carried out in districts outside the center.
"THE AMOUNT OF INVESTMENTS MADE FOR URBAN TRANSFORMATION AND EXPROPRIATION SINCE 2018 HAS BECOME 25 BILLION 685 MILLION LIRA"
Mayor Altay pointed out that the work is being carried out meticulously and said, "To express the magnitude of the work we have done in numbers, we have expropriated 166 independent sections and 18 buildings in an area of 279 thousand 314 square meters in 2025 alone. The current expropriation cost of these works is 3 billion 117 million lira. Since the day we took office, we have completed the expropriation of 1,920 independent sections and 702 buildings in a total area of 1 million 344 thousand square meters. We have completed the expropriation. We have spent approximately 5 billion liras on expropriation together with different public institutions and organizations since 2018. Thus, the current total cost of all expropriations we have carried out has reached 13 billion 685 million liras. When we include our urban transformation works, the current amount of investment we have made for urban transformation and expropriation since 2018 is exactly 25 billion 685 million liras.
