Statements from Kremlin Spokesperson Peskov on Ukraine, Europe and Syria

Peskov made evaluations about current issues to journalists in the capital Moscow.

Emphasizing that Ukraine continues to be militarized, Peskov said, "European countries are trying to find more resources for the purchase of weapons. The Kiev administration continues its terrorist actions. At this stage, there is no basis for peace negotiations. However, we are open to peace negotiations." he said.

Regarding the possibility of a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, Peskov said, "Putin said that Zelenskiy can come to Moscow whenever he wants. All necessary security guarantees will be provided to him. Zelenskiy knows very well what decisions he needs to make. However, it does not make sense to hold such a meeting without studies at the level of experts." he said.

Dmitry Peskov stated that Putin is always ready to meet with US President Donald Trump.

"The policy followed by European countries towards Russia is short-sighted"

Reminding that England has been following a policy against Russia for a long time, Peskov said that Germany, France and other European countries have taken a similar approach and said, "This is an extremely shortsighted policy. This approach does not come close to reducing the tension on the European continent." he said.

Evaluating Syrian President Ahmed Shara's statement that "there will be no foreign military bases in Syria", Peskov stated that they continue contacts with the Syrian side.

Spokesperson Peskov said, "(Russian bases in Syria) We are satisfied with the way the talks on this issue are being conducted. I hope that together with our Syrian counterparts we will continue to reach a common understanding on the most difficult issues." shared his knowledge.
