Identification of Those Who Died in the Bus Fire on the Northern Marmara Highway Continues

The accident in Istanbul occurred the day before at the Northern Marmara Highway Işıklar Tollbooth. A fire broke out after the passenger bus, which set out from Diyarbakır, hit the barriers.

2 people died in the fire. The bodies, whose identities could not yet be determined due to burning, were taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute.

DNA SAMPLE WAS TAKEN FROM HIS RELATIVES

According to the news on İHA, the relatives of those who lost their lives yesterday came to the Forensic Medicine Institute for identification.

While DNA samples were taken from nearby people, it was learned that one of the corpses was Yüsra Seraç (12), a 7th grade student at Bahçelievler Mehmet Akif Ersoy Secondary School.

FATHER SAVED HIS WIFE AND TWO CHILDREN

It was stated that Seraç took the bus from Diyarbakır with his family of 5. It was learned that father Mesut Seraç took his wife and 2 children out of the bus injured during the fire, but could not save his daughter Yüsra Seraç.

Mesut Seraç, who was injured in the accident, came to the Forensic Medicine Institute after being discharged from the hospital and gave a DNA sample. It was learned that the other person who lost his life was a 54-year-old woman, and her husband came to the Forensic Medicine Institute to give a DNA sample. It was stated that the bodies will be handed over to their families after DNA matches.

"HE SAVED EVERYONE, UNfortunately, HIS DAUGHTER WAS BURNED"

Making a statement in front of the Forensic Medicine Institute, Yüsra Seraç's relative Kasım Seraç said, "They left Diyarbakır at 7 o'clock the other day. They came via Elazığ. I called at around 1 o'clock, they were still in Bolu. Then, around 7-7.30 o'clock, we heard about such an accident. We went there urgently. The bus was burned to ashes. I talked to her father, his father cannot talk now. He saved 5-6 passengers by pulling his feet. These are "Mother, father and 3 children live in Istanbul, they went to their hometown because their mother was ill," he said.

"THE DRIVER HAS A LITTLE SPEED"

Stating that they returned to Istanbul due to the opening of schools, Seraç said, "It crashes into the barriers. As far as I can see from the footage, something explodes when it hits the barriers, I don't know if it is diesel fuel or what. There is negligence. There is also a bit of speed on the part of the driver." Stating that the driver said he ran away after the accident, Seraç said, "According to what I heard from his father, the driver ran away as soon as he had the accident."

"THEY HIT THE GLASS MANY TIMES AND IT DIDN'T OPEN"

Describing what happened during the fire, Seraç said, "Mesut Seraç, there were other children besides his children, and he tried to save them. At that time, the door did not open. They hit the window many times, but they could not open the window. Now, when someone from outside opened the window, smoke filled the inside. It was hard to see. He saved everyone, but unfortunately his daughter was burned inside." Seraç stated that the family's situation is very bad and said, "They are in a miserable situation right now. They cannot talk. I think it is negligence. They should serve whatever punishment they have."

"FATHER STILL BLAMES HIMSELF"

Habip Dalgın said, "As Mesut said, the driver was extremely fast. He had been driving for how many hours. He drove without taking a break, without changing drivers. In other words, a family was destroyed. His father cannot recover anyway. The father saved 6-7 people, he still blames himself, says 'I couldn't save my daughter.'"
