Enpa calls for the release of a wolf captured after attacks attributed to a male specimen

Enpa (National Animal Protection Agency) is following the story of the detention of a female wolf, captured in the countryside between Rutigliano and Noicattaro, in the province of Bari, following the attacks against two children which occurred on 4 August and 15 August. In fact, the task force coordinated by the Prefecture of Bari has been at work since 5 August.

The call for liberation

Enpa calls for the release of the she-wolf, of which, until the moment of capture, no activity to the detriment of people or things was known. In fact, the attacks were attributed to a male specimen. The association also asks to know Ispra's opinion and verify how and why it would have justified both his capture and detention.

According to Enpa, in fact, it is not possible to detain a wild animal such as the wolf which is still a "particularly protected" species pursuant to art. 2 of law 157/92, without a specific and compelling reason, also pursuant to national and EU regulations. The animal is now in the Bitetto wildlife observatory.
