The Paris Court of Appeal rejects Philippe Brun's request for reinstatement in the Socialist Party primary

The Paris Court of Appeal also rejected on Wednesday evening the request of deputy Philippe Brun to be reinstated in the primary of the social-democratic space, confirming the decision at first instance, the chamber of summary proceedings indicated in a press release.

The court “held that Philippe Brun cannot seriously maintain that the procedure provided for by the terms of the statutes of the Socialist Party was not respected, or even would have been misused,” she underlined.

“The new documents submitted to the proceedings before the court confirmed that on September 15, 2026, the complainant contacted by telephone a member of the national leadership of the Socialist Party to inform him of the facts of which she indicated that she had been the victim of Philippe Brun,” adds the press release, contradicting information which claimed the opposite.

“Instrumentalize” a conflict to “kill it politically”?

“The court considered that this undeniably results in the existence of a report on the date indicated, which sufficiently refutes the fraudulent maneuvers invoked by the appellant”, she added, considering that “this does not result in any manifest violation of a rule of law”.

Philippe Brun was suspended from the PS on September 16 as a precautionary measure following accusations from an activist relating to “facts likely to fall under criminal characterization,” according to the PS leadership.

The accusations relate to three registers: “the register of harassment”, that of “physical violence” and that of “family employment”, specified the management of the PS. Philippe Brun, who had obtained his sponsorships, accused his party of having “instrumentalized” a conflict between him and a former collaborator in order to “kill him politically”. The primary vote is scheduled for October 9-10 and 16-17.
