Life is a long, quiet river: the cult film soon to be adapted into a miniseries on Netflix

Life is a long quiet river, the cult comedy by Étienne Chatiliez in 1988, is about to be readapted into a miniseries for Netflix.

On the menu: six episodes, filmed in Gironde under the direction of Clovis Cornillac, with Alban Ivanov and Ludivine Sagnier on the bill. The adaptation of the film, whose lines have crossed the ages and generations - "Emmanuelle, if you drink cold water after your hot soup, you will knock the enamel off your teeth" - must be filmed this fall.

The production is currently looking for more than 800 extras to participate in this new version of the popular film, awarded four Césars in 1989 (best first film, best original screenplay, best actress in a supporting role and best female hopeful). The filming must retrace the lives of the Groseille and Le Quesnoy families, who discover many years later that one of their children was switched at birth. Opposing, on one side, a warm working class and, on the other, a Catholic upper bourgeoisie with very marked codes, the two families nourish exchanges marked with humor around their differences, but also the values ​​they share.

The scenes must be filmed from October 5 to December 18 in the Arcachon basin. To apply, candidates must submit their photo to the website extras.com. Those selected will be paid 98.48 euros gross per day. No experience is required and all ages are welcome.
