Tom Holland becomes the highest-grossing actor in box office history

Zoé Saldana's record only lasted a few months. Last January, the star of Avatar, Star Trek and Guardians of the Galaxy became the highest-grossing actress in box office history, surpassing Scarlett Johansson. In total, the films in which the American actress starred have accumulated some $15.468 billion in revenue. But this dizzying figure has just been beaten by one of his colleagues from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU): Tom Holland.

This week, the Briton crossed the $15.5 billion revenue mark. A feat for an actor barely 30 years old. This summer alone, he added $4.2 billion to his account thanks to his roles in Spider-Man - Brand New Day - now the third biggest hit in global box office history - and in the adaptation of The Odyssey, from director Christopher Nolan.

Added to these revenues are those from previous films in which Tom Holland starred. Since 2016, the actor has played Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man, in the Marvel universe. In ten years, four films dedicated to Spider-Man have been produced by the studios. Their total revenue exceeds $6.350 billion.

The actor also participated in the film Captain America - Civil War (1.155 billion) and in two episodes of the Avengers saga, by the Russo brothers. In 2019, Endgame grossed $2.799 billion in revenue and in 2018, Infinity War grossed $2.048 billion. Tom Holland also counts in his filmography a role in the film adaptation of the video game Uncharted, proud of more than 400 million dollars in global box office revenue.
