Lavrov: Truth will prevail against Western information aggression

MOSCOW, September 22. /TASS/. The West is actively distorting the truth, but the truth will prevail and become an answer to Western information aggression, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said, speaking at the international Dialogue about Fakes 4.0 forum, of which TASS is the strategic media partner.

"I have no doubt whatsoever that ultimately the truth will prevail and become an adequate response to the information aggression of the West against the countries of the global majority, one of which is Russia," the foreign minister said.

He noted that the West’s actions to distort the truth reflect a broader trend. According to Lavrov, this is "a fear of fair competition in virtually all spheres of human activity." "The West is frankly losing in the economy, and it is losing within the system that it itself created and promoted to all other countries of our planet for decades," the Russian top diplomat stressed.

Lavrov pointed out that free competition, the inviolability of property, the free play of market forces and other principles "were instantly sacrificed as soon as the West realized that the countries of the global majority, primarily the People’s Republic of China, but also other rapidly developing economies, were outperforming the West on its own field, according to its own rules."

The Dialogue about Fakes 4.0 forum is a global platform for discussing methods to counter disinformation and develop fact-checking technologies. The event is taking place at the Russia National Center with the participation of over 2,000 journalists, experts and businesspeople from 80 countries. It is organized by the Global Fact-Checking Network (GFCN), established in 2025 by the TASS news agency, the autonomous nonprofit organization "Dialogue Regions," and the New Media Workshop.
