The administrative court annuls the municipal elections of Noisy-le-Sec

The Montreuil administrative court canceled the municipal elections of Noisy-le-Sec, in Seine-Saint-Denis, on Wednesday, based on the fact that several candidates from the list that came in second place, winning seven seats, did not sign their form themselves. According to a press release from the court, “five signatures and handwritten mentions of candidates from the Noisy au coeur list, the citizen list filed on March 17”, resulting from a merger with two other lists, were not made by the candidates as prescribed by the electoral code.

“This list was therefore irregularly constituted” and “the votes cast in favor of this list in the second round of the municipal elections must be considered invalid,” ruled the court, adding, to justify its decision to cancel the entire ballot, that “the participation in the second round of this list undermined the sincerity of the ballot as a whole”.

The parties have until October 30 to appeal.

The courts, however, rejected the requests for ineligibility from the head of the list and certain other members behind the maneuver. “We deplore that an election that was largely won is called into question by the amateurism and irregularities of the Noisy list at the heart,” reacted PCF mayor Olivier Sarrabeyrouse in a press release sent to AFP, whose list came first in the second round. “Our majority is ready, we will always be on the side of democracy and are not afraid of elections,” he added.
