LG Display Introduces New OLED Technology FLiPP

LG Display officially introduced FLiPP (FMM-Less Innovative Pixel Patterning) technology, which will usher in a new era in display technologies, within the scope of the IMID 2026 event held in South Korea. This new OLED technology, which is expected to radically change the production processes in the industry, draws attention especially by eliminating the use of FMM (Fine Metal Mask).

According to the technical data shared by the company, thanks to this innovative approach, screen brightness increases by 1.6 times, panel life reaches 2.4 times and energy efficiency is improved by 13 percent. LG Display aims to use this technology in the tablet and monitor segment at the first stage.

Efficiency Increases in Production Processes

Fine Metal Mask (FMM) technology, which plays a critical role in traditional OLED production processes, was creating serious cost and efficiency challenges in the production of high-resolution panels. FLiPP technology developed by LG Display aims to reduce complexity on the production line by completely eliminating this need for masking. It is stated that this not only reduces production costs but also provides more flexibility in pixel placement on the panel.
