Lufthansa flight to Toronto made an emergency landing in Manchester due to cabin smell

A Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt to Toronto with 371 passengers on board turned around via Scotland and landed in Manchester for safety reasons. The reason was a smell in the cabin, as the company announced upon request. In order to obtain a priority landing, an air emergency was declared. Since the Boeing 747-400 landed with increased weight due to the fuel it was carrying, the fire department checked the aircraft as a precaution. The passengers could then have left the plane normally.

The aircraft is currently being examined. The passengers would be accommodated in hotels for the night and were expected to continue their journey on Sunday with a replacement flight to Toronto. «We apologize to our guests for the situation and the interruption to their trip. The safety of our passengers and crews is our top priority at all times,” said a company spokesman.
