Lula at 40% of voting intentions, Flávio Bolsonaro at 36% in the first round according to Datafolha poll

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has 40% of voting intentions against 36% for Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, son of former president Jair Bolsonaro, in the first round of the presidential elections scheduled in ten days.

This is what emerges from the latest Datafolha survey, carried out on 22 and 23 September on 2,002 voters and commissioned by Folha de S.Paulo and Tv Globo. In the second round Lula is at 47% and Flávio at 45%, a difference within the margin of error of two percentage points.

In the first round, Augusto Cury (5%), Ronaldo Caiado (4%) and Renan Santos (3%) follow, while Romeu Zema and Samara are at 1%. 5% say they will vote blank or blank and 2% are undecided.

Compared to the previous week's survey, Lula rises by one point and Flávio remains stable at 36%; in the runoff the two go from 46% to 47% and from 44% to 45% respectively. Ten days before the vote, the two main candidates are pushing for the so-called useful vote in the first round.
