Macron warns: Russia prepares new drone attacks in Europe, France possible target

French President Emmanuel Macron also spoke on the case born from the revelation by El Mundo, according to which "Russia is preparing for new drone attacks in Europe, but this time it will target Mediterranean countries", including France. For the resident of the Elysée "we can deny this information. The Italian Minister of Defense did the same thing. But yes, there is a disturbing situation", underlined Macron, "because hostile acts almost everywhere in Europe have multiplied".

"Russia multiplies hostile and sometimes criminal acts against European countries", Macron said again in an interview live on the TF1 and France 2 news. For the French president, Moscow now considers Europe as "the strategic depth of Ukraine", in particular because the Europeans support Kiev. "Since the Europeans help the Ukrainians, Europe can be a target," he said on live TV. Speaking about the attacks of recent weeks and especially the one in Leipzig, Macron added: "It's more than hybrid war, it's war, period"

And precisely regarding what happened in Germany, Emmanuel Macron said he believes it is possible that France could be the target of a Russian attack attempt similar to the one that occurred at Leipzig airport last summer. The country has not yet suffered such attacks, "but when you ask me 'can it happen?', my answer is yes," the French president said. For Macron "there are several clues that show how Russia is organizing itself" to conduct an attack against Europe, a "credible" prospect, he told the French live on TV.

According to the president, Moscow is currently sending the signal that it is "ready to make even further sacrifices to take all of Donbass." He added that Russia would still have to advance "one and a half, two years" at its current pace to conquer territories it does not yet control in that region, "with terrible losses and a suffering Ukraine." Faced with this situation, Macron defended French support for Kiev: "What is our responsibility? Helping Ukraine resist. What we have been doing since the beginning." The French president judged that of a new Russian mobilization of 300,000 men as "a credible scenario".
