During the second Trump-Xi meeting, U.S. President Trump personally received Chinese President Xi Jinping at the airport and gave him courtesy. KMT party officials said that with such high-level treatment from Sichuan to Xi, the Sino-U.S. trade war is expected to cease fire, and the Taiwan issue may have more room for negotiation, so the Lai government has to be cautious. Chen Yixin, chairman of the KMT Cultural Communication Committee, said that if Sichuan and Xi include Taiwan arms sales in U.S.-China negotiations or even exchange of interests, it will directly violate the "six guarantees." Chen Yixin criticized that Foreign Minister Lin Jialong recently said that "Taiwan's interests are the interests of the United States" and even declared that Taiwan and the United States should "jointly manage China". This is basically wishful thinking and ignorant statements that ignore the diplomatic reality. Chen Yixin emphasized that Taiwan would like to see the United States and China reduce conflicts, but Taiwan cannot become a bargaining chip for the United States and China to improve relations. The Lai administration should no longer comfort itself by claiming that "Taiwan-U.S. relations are the best in history." It should immediately convene a national security conference to respond prudently and explain it to the people.

Chen Yixin pointed out that in 1982, the U.S. Reagan administration made a clear commitment to Taiwan in its Six Assurances and would not negotiate with Beijing in advance on arms sales to Taiwan. If the Trump-Xi meeting now includes arms sales to Taiwan in U.S.-China negotiations or even exchange of interests, it will directly violate the six guarantees. This is by no means a major national security issue that the government can deceive the Chinese people by saying "Taiwan and the United States have good communication."
