Demonstration of civil servants in Paris against the freezing of the index point and budget cuts

The slogan is repeated by the entire procession. “Money! money! for public services!”, spits out a sound system placed on a utility vehicle. In the Parisian demonstration of civil servants this Tuesday afternoon, we still hope to be able to erase the 2027 budget written by the government. All day, some 206,000 agents according to the Ministry of the Interior, including 30,000 in Paris, demonstrated across the country to protest against the decline in their purchasing power and the budget cuts planned by the executive.

The government must present its draft 2027 budget this Thursday, October 1, which should notably include the freezing of the index point of civil servants. Despite this tight timing, the unions still hope to change the situation and are demanding an increase in the remuneration of civil servants and “budgetary resources commensurate” with the missions of public services.
