New details in the investigation of the school attack in Manisa: 9 detained

The suspect, who used 3 cartridges during the attack, opened fire towards the students from points approximately 80, 90 and 110 meters away from the school. It was determined that the suspect, who was determined to have practiced target shooting with his grandmother's rifle used in the attack about a month ago, purchased the cartridges from a hunting dealer with 600 liras he received from his grandmother. As part of the investigation, 9 people, including the suspect, were detained. Among those detained are the suspect's father, mother, grandmother, grandfather, some of his relatives and the manager of the hunting dealer selling the cartridges.

HE RESET HIS PHONE

The technical investigation initiated to recover the data in the digital materials of the suspect, who was determined to have reset his mobile phone before the incident, continues. It was also learned that the suspect told a relative before the attack that he would commit such an act, but his words were not taken seriously.

It was determined that the suspect, who attended the 9th grade at an open high school last year but could not complete it, was enrolled in formal education this year, but did not attend school regularly and only went a few times.

IDEOLOGICAL NOTES AND SYMBOLS WERE FOUND IN HIS ROOM

During the search of his house, swastika figures and notes regarding different political and ideological movements were found in the suspect's room. It was determined that one of the suspect's notebooks contained manifesto-like texts containing his views on politics, economy and social issues. The investigation is investigating whether the suspect was influenced by individual radicalization, nihilism and different ideological currents.

STATEMENT CONCERNING THE HEALTH CONDITION OF INJURED STUDENTS

On the other hand, Minister of Internal Affairs Mustafa Çiftçi said in his statement yesterday that 11 children were injured in the armed attack near İnci Üzmez Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in Manisa's Turgutlu district, 3 of them were in a more critical condition than the others, and 1 of them was discharged.
