Mattarella visits the Candiolo Oncology Institute for the World Cancer Research Day

The visit of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, to the National Oncology Institute of Candiolo, in the Turin area, coincides with World Cancer Research Day. "It is no small coincidence", observes Allegra Agnelli, president of the Foundation, who had invited the head of state.

The day was also an opportunity to inaugurate the new Tac Photon-Counting, in the presence of the president of the Piedmont Region Alberto Cirio and the mayor of Turin Stefano Lo Russo.

The equipment is a further piece of the modernization plan financed by the Foundation. This is an investment worth almost three million, made possible by the Foundation's supporters.

"Generosity - declares the general director of the Allegra Agnelli Foundation, Gianmarco Sala - is the distinctive feature of the Allegra Agnelli Foundation for Cancer Research: a community that in forty years has allowed the birth and development of Candiolo, thanks to people, businesses and institutions who, through donations, 5x1000 and bequests, continue to believe in the values ​​of science and research".

The visit of the head of state ended in front of Mario Merz's Igloo (Double Igloo of Porto, 1998) with the Fibonacci sequence. The work is installed in collaboration with the Merz Foundation, with the support of the Building Group and the collaboration of Intesa Sanpaolo and Gallerie d'Italia, which were represented by the general director and executive director of the group's Art, Culture and Historical Heritage, Michele Coppola.

During the visit, Mattarella also met four people who have a direct link with the structure: two patients in treatment, a patient in follow-up and a former patient, both of whom are now volunteers for the Foundation.
