Scholarship amounts for MEB scholarship students have been increased

Scholarship amounts for undergraduate and graduate students studying abroad as Ministry of National Education (MEB) scholarship holders have been increased.

"Communiqué on Payments to be Made to Students Studying Undergraduate and Postgraduate Education Abroad in Pursuance of Law No. 1416 and Related Regulation" prepared by the Ministry of National Education and the Ministry of Treasury and Finance was published in the Official Gazette.

According to the information received from the Ministry regarding the communiqué, the monthly domestic scholarship amount to be paid to official scholarship students who attend a language course in the country in preparation for education abroad has been increased from 2 thousand 325 lira to 4 thousand lira for undergraduate students and from 4 thousand 650 lira to 8 thousand lira for graduate students.

The annual amount of compulsory health insurance has also been changed, and the upper limit of the compulsory health insurance fee, which was previously determined to not exceed 1.5 times the one-month overseas scholarship paid to undergraduate or graduate students for each academic year, has been doubled, provided that the insurance to be obtained is of standard quality.

With the change, the total accommodation fee for thesis and field studies and participation in scientific events will be paid up to 20 percent of the monthly scholarship abroad, instead of 5 percent, 5 percent per day.

In addition, a change was made to cover the visa fee of the relevant country if students go to another country for thesis and field studies and participation in scientific activities.
