Bologna is moving towards the new stadium: 35 thousand seats, mobile coverage and an investment of 300 million

New stadium, steps forward. Bolognafiere and Bologna calcio have resolved their reservations about the construction of the facility. The names of investors, sponsors and partners of the works are still missing, but the joint statement of the parties involved leaves no doubt about the desire to proceed: "35 thousand seats, mobile coverage, movable pitch, investment of 300 million euros: objective of completion of the works in 2031 and the first in-depth analyzes allow us to start the operational phase of the project, which will be transmitted to the FIGC".

The Municipality of Bologna will do so on the day, the deadline for applications for Euro 2032, to ensure that Bologna is among the eligible locations and can be included in the funding scope, for approximately 30 million euros. The new stadium that will be built in the Fair area of ​​the city of Bologna will be a multipurpose facility: "Designed to host not only football matches, but also trade fairs and large live music events, with mobile coverage and a movable playing field, to free up the area for trade fairs, concerts and conferences", reads the press release. The project bears the signature of the architect Eloy Suarez of the Shesa studio (that of the Juventus Stadium) and the engineer and professor MassimoMajowiecki. The timetable identifies the completion of the works in spring 2031.

"It is an important investment and, in addition to the commitment of BolognaFiere and Joey Saputo, the participation of investors who share the same vision for the development of the city will be necessary", says Bologna CEO Claudio Fenucci.
