Targa Florio Classica 2026: dates and program of the event in Sicily

The timeless charm of the Targa Florio returns as a protagonist on the roads of Sicily. From 15 to 18 October 2026 the Targa Florio Classica will be staged, a historical re-enactment in a competitive key of the car competition born in 1906 by will of Vincenzo Florio and today a reference event of the Italian Major Events Championship for historic and modern cars, of which it constitutes the decisive act of the Tricolore. Crews from all continents will bring classic cars and supercars to Sicily, competing in the Legend and Gran Turismo categories. The Targa Florio Classica will also be a privileged event of the Ferrari Tribute to Targa Florio.

Organized by the Automobile Club of Italy, Aci Sport and Automobile Club Palermo, the event, which falls within the scope of the activities of the Aci Storico Club, represents every year a unique meeting between sport, automotive culture, historical heritage and valorisation of the Sicilian territory. An event born and raised in the far-sighted spirit of embracing exclusive cultural aspects, illuminated by the charm of the great cars of every era, which lead to the discovery of unique places on the island to which the Targa Florio has always linked name and celebrity. A journey into excellence: that of technological development linked to mobility and that of Sicily, a land immersed in beauty and with millenary cultural roots.

Three days of competition: the first in the Trapani area, the second on the Madonie and, finally, the "Monreale Trophy" on Sunday, which precedes the prestigious awards ceremony at the Palermo Marina Yachting, headquarters of the event.

After the spectacular departure from Piazza Verdi in front of the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, on the afternoon of Thursday 15 October, the crews, on the first day of competition on Friday 16, will move towards the Trapani area where, in addition to crossing places of great historical and cultural beauty, they will also stop in Campobello di Mazara, considered one of the symbolic places of the Italian regularity discipline. A sporting tradition that has its origins in a recent and characteristic history of Campobello thanks to its creator, the then mayor Nino Buffa who in 1962, to celebrate the installation of the first public lighting system in the town, had the brilliant intuition of organizing an all-night car competition that would wind through the city streets attracting thousands of people.

The first stage of the race also includes the Power Stage Classic, the exciting show test based on three chronometric measurements, set up inside the town of Partanna, in front of the Grifeo Castle, an ancient Arab fortress from the 1300s, now home to, among other things, the prehistory museum. The Power Stage, which has great appeal for the public, will be broadcast in its entirety on ACI Sport TV, the television channel dedicated to motor racing on channels 228 on Sky, 52 on tivùsat and on demand on acisport.tv.
