Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation ex officio on August 29, following allegations in some press and media outlets that unregistered money was transferred to companies abroad about İbrahim Melih Gökçek.
Within the scope of the investigation carried out by the Organized Crimes Investigation Bureau of the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, İbrahim Melih Gökçek testified at the Ankara Courthouse.
As part of the investigation, journalist Murat Ağırel testified at the Ankara Courthouse as a witness on August 31 and said that he submitted the information and documents he obtained to the prosecutor's office within the scope of his research on the company called HAMAG, founded by Gökçek's son Ahmet Gökçek and his wife Hülya Gökçek in Düsseldorf, Germany.
FIRST STATEMENT AFTER THE STATEMENT
Gökçek told members of the press:
"You will ask questions such as "What did you say, what did you say, what did they ask?" Let me say this in advance. I gave a statement to the prosecutor's office. The statement is confidential. Therefore, do not expect anything like "I said this, I said that" from me. God willing, the investigation by the prosecutor's office will be completed. We will get the result. We will talk a lot on television. Melih Gökçek is not a man who does not talk or hesitates. I insistently invite my opponents to the screen, but I cannot.
I will give you some information. This is not the first time in my life that I am coming to the prosecutor's office. It's not my first time coming to the prosecutor's office. It's not the first time I've been investigated.
I will explain this in 3 parts. I was elected mayor in 1994. I served as mayor of the opposition for 9 years. I have gone through 500 investigations and investigations. I testified in all of these. SHP, DSP, ANAP government asked me everything. There was nothing left they didn't ask. There is a saying. The grasshopper jumps once, twice, and is caught the third time. I jumped 500 times. I got unfollowed from all of them. They couldn't catch me. They even detained me in '98. This is the first period.
Which period is the second period? Welfare Party and AK Party period. I cannot give the exact number, but I have had at least 100 investigations. The statements I gave remain at the prosecutor's office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Nothing came of it at that time either.
The third period is the Mansur Yavaş period. They say, '100 investigations have been opened against Melih Gökçek.' This is a lie. Those who say this are lying. Those who cover it in the media compliment the lie. Do not compliment. I have gone through 25 investigations. 21 of them are finished. I did not receive the results of 4 of them. Some of the completed investigations were at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and some were at the prosecutor's office. While these investigations were being carried out, expert reports were received and my statement was taken from all of them. Mansur Yavaş lied by saying, "He didn't even go to the statement." I called him to the screen 100 times, but he didn't come.
The greatest referee is the citizen. Who is afraid of being on screen? People who are not right are afraid. Mansur Yavaş objected to the completed investigations. 21 investigations were concluded in my favor in the Council of State and the Supreme Court. Mansur Yavaş says, 'I went through 109 investigations and received non-prosecution from 101 of them.' This is justice for you. But what does it say? Melih Gökçek was not tried. It is not legal for me to be unprosecuted from here. It happens when he takes it, but it doesn't happen when I take it.
A decision will be made here in the coming days. I have no worries. Because I am a person who tells the truth. "When the decision is made, I will appear on your television."
