Billions of liras worth of criminal assets were seized... Akın Gürlek shared the 'operation' data: '32 thousand 882 people were arrested in 8 months'

Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced that 7 thousand 818 operations were carried out against drugs, illegal betting, virtual gambling and criminal organizations in 8 months, and 32 thousand 882 suspects were arrested.

Gürlek announced that 7 thousand 818 operations were carried out in 8 months and billions of lira of criminal assets were seized.

"Under the leadership of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, we continue our fight against drugs, illegal betting, virtual gambling and new generation criminal organizations that threaten the peace, security and future of our nation with determination all over our country," said Minister Gürlek and shared details about the operations.

Minister Gürlek stated that between February and September 2026, judicial investigations were carried out in 81 provinces, under the coordination of the Ministry of Justice, in cooperation with the chief public prosecutor's offices, MİT, Police and Gendarmerie organizations, MASAK and VDK Presidency and all relevant institutions.

Within the scope of the investigations, 7 thousand 818 operations were carried out, judicial proceedings were taken against 70 thousand 853 suspects, 32 thousand 882 suspects were arrested and judicial control measures were implemented against 15 thousand 826 suspects.

Emphasizing that criminal organizations were intervened not only in their activities but also in their financial resources and assets, Minister Gürlek announced that financial investigations also detected a transaction volume of 2.54 trillion TL, 9.08 billion dollars and 3.49 million Euros.

As a result of the investigations; Drugs with a market value exceeding 30 billion TL, 1.4 billion TL, 17 million Euros and over 1.7 million dollars in cash were seized. 9 thousand 030 immovable properties, 1556 vehicles and 22 sea vessels were seized. Legal action was taken against 803 companies and businesses, and 38 thousand 58 bank and crypto accounts were frozen or blocked. Access to 28 thousand 245 illegal betting-gambling sites and new generation criminal organization accounts was blocked.
