Moscow Mayor Says Genomic Registration Helped Identify 14 Serial Offenders

MOSCOW, September 30. /TASS/. Mandatory genomic registration of migrants has made it possible to identify 14 people who had committed serial crimes in different years, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin told the Security Council commission on migration security.

"This helped us detect about 10,000 people who were of operational interest and were wanted. Of these, 14 people had committed serial crimes in different years, up to 10 years ago," Sobyanin said.

He said that thanks to genomic registration, about 1,000 people who had committed bad crimes and felonies, including murders, rapes, and robberies, were also detained.

"This, of course, gave us a boost to apprehend criminals and promptly solve crimes that had gone unsolved for years," the mayor stated.
