Real Madrid Coach Jose Mourinho made a statement regarding Kylian Mbappe's injury process at the press conference held before the Villarreal match.
Here's what came out before Mourinho's statements:
"I think a football player is a football player 24 hours a day. When he does something important in his private life, there is always a repercussion. A football player is a human being who can always make mistakes, but he must always have a sense of responsibility.
I think you know me. I may be wise to avoid answering some of the tough questions and try to avoid the topic, but I don't lie.
During this process, Real Madrid players set an example in terms of their professional attitude. We worked hard to keep them well here. Everything is completely planned out and we keep rest periods under control. Everyone who left the team followed the rules. The injured players immediately came to Valdebebas, were diagnosed and continued their recovery process.
For example, I gave two unplanned days off to Arda Güler, who was suspended in the fourth match of his national team. Players such as Valverde and Konate, who had serious injuries and should have been in Valdebebas, were also here.
Coming to your example of Mbappe, he was here, had the necessary checks and left to get a second opinion because there was a problem with his knee that could not be ignored. Both diagnoses were completely consistent with each other. You don't need to know all the details of the recovery process.
Mbappe's chances of being whistled
"If something like this happens, it will be a victory for you. I'm not saying this towards a specific person. I thought there had been enough real events in the football world in recent weeks for you to cover. But apparently these were not enough.
Big events like Manchester City, the difficult situation my country went through regarding Cristiano and his coach... There were many events that could be the subject of your work, but these were not enough. Real Madrid is Real Madrid and there is always something to bring up. I expected the first question to be about the match only. There is a difficult match to win. This situation seems ridiculous to me.
This is one of your goals. You don't need to be Einstein to understand this. I will not comment on the Bernabeu, I respect it. My hope is that the Bernabeu can act fairly. For me, being fair means being smart. It means being able to read events correctly, understanding between the lines, and grasping the dynamics and goals.
I promise the Bernabeu this: If a player from Real Madrid does not behave like a player of the club, makes a mistake or does not fulfill his responsibilities as a player or a citizen, he will not be on the bench. The fans won't be able to whistle him because he will be at home.
This means Mbappe will play. He won't even be on the bench. He will play because I am sure that there is no indication that he has not fulfilled his responsibilities towards Real Madrid.
