Woman reports sexual harassment by Civil Police investigator in Cáceres

A woman reported a Civil Police investigator, who was not named, for sexual harassment after reporting that she had been touched by the police officer during a conversation inside the Cáceres Women's Police Station, 250 km from Cuiabá. The case was registered on September 16th and is being investigated by the Civil Police itself.

According to the police report, the victim worked as a cleaning assistant for an outsourced company and was in the room where the investigator works. According to the report, the two started a conversation and, at one point, the police officer allegedly hit their private parts.

Still according to the document, the woman reprimanded the attitude and said he should respect her. The police officer reportedly responded that it was a “joke”. The victim then stated that the attitude was a “very bad joke”.

The woman reported being shaken by what happened and went to the police station to file a complaint. The case was registered as sexual harassment, provided for in article 215-A of the Penal Code.

In a statement, the Civil Police reported that it had initiated an investigative procedure to investigate the case. The parties involved were summoned to provide clarification.

"The Civil Police informs that an investigative procedure has been initiated to investigate the facts reported in the police report. The parties involved are being summoned to be heard and other measures are being taken to clarify the facts and adopt the appropriate legal measures", says the note.

In February this year, Civil Police investigator Manoel Batista da Silva, aged 52, was preventively arrested on suspicion of raping a woman inside the Sorriso police station, 420 km from Cuiabá. According to the Civil Police, the victim was detained in the unit when the crime occurred.

The victim at the time reported having been raped four times by the investigator, in December 2025. According to the defense, he took her to an empty room and threatened her to keep silent. An examination confirmed the genetic compatibility between the material from the investigator and that collected from the victim.

Based on the evidence, the investigator was indicted and the police requested preventive arrest, as well as search and seizure warrants and breach of confidentiality of telephone data.
