Murad defends the actions of the Federal Police and states that the institution will resist attacks

During a speech at the opening ceremony of the LXIII Professional Training Course (CFP) for Federal Police Agents, Murad stated that the institution will resist "attacks".

According to Murad, the investigators' work is "technical, impartial and free from any political bias."

"Knowing that we work strictly within the law, and exclusively committed to the public interest, keeps us confident that the truth of the facts, which we tirelessly seek in our investigations, will prevail," he continued.

Murad's speech took place at the Arena Theater of the National Police Academy (ANP), in Brasília, in front of an audience of 763 new students.

Andrei Rodrigues was the expected authority to formally open the training course for new agents, but he did not attend the ceremony following the developments of his institutional crisis.

The absence of the head of the corporation and Murad's subsequent speech occur amid the repercussion of the decision of Minister André Mendonça, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), which determined the preventive and immediate removal of Andrei Rodrigues and the Director of Police Intelligence, Leandro Almada da Costa.

Mendonça's precautionary measure — which aims to investigate the circumstances of the production of apocryphal intelligence reports that monitored authorities, including the rapporteur himself and the Union's attorney general, Jorge Messias — already has a majority of 3 votes to 0 in the Second Panel of the STF, although the virtual trial is temporarily suspended due to a request for review by Minister Gilmar Mendes.
