The male student from Da Nang is the valedictorian of Ho Chi Minh City University of Information Technology

Ho Chi Minh City Although admitted directly, Do Phu Quang is still the valedictorian at the University of Information Technology with two 10 points on the graduation exam and a series of other achievements.

Quang was honored by the school, awarded a trophy, certificate of merit and a scholarship of 80 million VND during the opening ceremony on the morning of September 4. This year, the University of Information Technology (UIT), Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, recruited more than 2,300 students, from 26 provinces and cities.

Do Phu Quang, a former student of Le Thanh Tong High School for the Gifted, Da Nang, is the entrance valedictorian. The male student was admitted to the Artificial Intelligence major - getting a standard score of 100/100 according to the comprehensive review method, equivalent to 30/30 - which is a record in the school's history and the highest in the country in the past admission season.

The school said Quang passed the direct admission thanks to the national encouragement award for excellent students in Informatics. However, male students also achieve good results in many exams and criteria, part of the school's admission formula.

Specifically, Quang scored 10 points in Math, Information and 9.5 points in Physics in the high school graduation exam. In addition, the male student achieved 919/1200 competency assessment points (V-ACT) and had many achievements that were counted as plus points: national consolation prize and first place at the provincial level in Informatics, IELTS 6.5, being a specialized school student. Quang's total admission score is 108.33/100.

The male student said that he registered both of his wishes to major in Artificial Intelligence at Ho Chi Minh City National University. This is the field of study I have been orienting since 7th grade when I was curious to learn about tools that integrate human intelligence.

"As soon as GPT Chat was launched, I also created an account to learn about it, followed by a series of other AI applications. The more I tinker, the more I believe in my direction," Quang said.

Associate Professor. Dr. Nguyen Tan Tran Minh Khang, Principal, assessed that this year's enrollment course has outstanding input quality. In addition to Quang, the school also attracts 64 high-achieving students. Among them, one student won a bronze medal at the International Olympic Artificial Intelligence (IOAI), the rest all won national excellent student awards.

With investment in scientific research, facilities, especially computing capacity and AI infrastructure, the school hopes to create an environment for students to not only learn expertise but also research, create, experience new technology and be ready to participate in solving practical problems.
