Evaluation on Nasrettin Hodja Joke Investigation and Tensions within AKP

The investigation of the artist who represented Nasrettin Hodja during the Akşehir Festival for making a joke brought a book to our mind.

"Arslan Soldier Švejk", the hero of Czech writer Yaroslav Hasek's famous novel, is a universally famous folk character, just like Nasreddin Hodja.

In the novel, which deals with the events of World War I, which started for the sake of the interests of a small minority, with a humorous narrative and in which peace is glorified, the Lion Soldier Švejk is imprisoned by the commission he is brought before, on the grounds that he is "a number one scoundrel who mocks the war". Lion Soldier Švejk explains that he found the methods used by the military interrogators there astonishing:

"Such a justice apparatus is always the distinguishing feature of a state that is on the eve of a political, economic and moral collapse. Such a state tries to maintain its fame and honor with the courts and the police; it does not hesitate to use gendarmes and, most vulgarly, informers and spies."
