The Court of Accounts detected deficiencies in the inspection of certified tourism facilities by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

The Court of Accounts' audit report regarding the Ministry of Culture and Tourism included warnings regarding the audit of certified tourism facilities. The report stated that the Ministry's facilities should be examined according to criteria such as service standard, minimum qualifications, capacity, physical properties, hygiene, maintenance and personnel qualification, and noted that an annual routine inspection calendar has not been established on this issue. In the report, which stated that inspections were generally carried out upon new document application or complaint, it was stated that "It has been observed that some certified facilities have not been inspected on-site in the last five years. It has been determined that investment certified real estate allocated for tourism purposes is not used in accordance with the provisions of the allocation agreement, and some areas that should be used for tourism purposes are used for personal purposes." It was also stated that in some facilities, illegal structures were built near the coast.

'ALLOCATION CONTRACTS ARE NOT SENT TO THE MINISTRY'

On the other hand, in the report; It was noted that there were problems in tracking the revenues obtained from the allocation of places such as museums, historical sites, cultural centers, galleries and libraries belonging to the units affiliated with the ministry. In the report stating that the provincial cultural directorates did not send the allocation contracts to the ministry, it was stated that "In the investigation, it was determined that the ministry did not make a calculation regarding the accuracy of the allocation fee, only the allocation fee deposited into the bank account was recorded as income. A follow-up system for the collection of allocation fees should be established and controls should be carried out."
