British Prime Minister Burnham Speaks About Early Elections and Scottish Independence

British Prime Minister Burnham made a statement to BBC, ITV and STV channels and touched upon the issues of early elections and Scottish independence, which have recently occupied the public in the country.

In an interview with regional editors of BBC and ITV, Burnham stated that he had no intention of holding an early general election and that an early election would take the country back.

Burnham stated that the election will be held in 2029 and said, "I firmly reject all these speculations. There will be no election soon. I am focused on what I will do as Prime Minister." he said.

According to AA news, Burnham stated that he would make statements about the goal he wants to take England to at the Labor Party's annual conference and said, "My goal is to help people against the increasing cost of living and to ensure that trade continues. These are our priorities right now." he said.

"THE FUTURE HAS BEEN DETERMINED"

Burnham, who also made a statement to Scottish television STV, responded to the question of whether there would be another referendum for Scotland's independence and said, "This is not the time to return to these discussions. The high cost of living affects most Scots, as well as those in every corner of the country." he said.

In response to the question of whether the people of Scotland had the right to vote for self-determination, Burnham said: "They have that right. But the future was determined to last for a generation." He pointed to the no vote in the referendum in 2014.

Arguing that there is no clear consensus on the independence referendum in Scotland, Burnham reiterated that it is necessary to focus on the solution of the cost of living rather than focusing on the great divide.

Emphasizing that he does not support division, Burnham said, "I do not think it is the right time for a new referendum. I do not believe that the public in Scotland supports it." he said.

The leaders of the pro-secession parties in power in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, three of the four countries that make up the United Kingdom, met on September 13 and discussed separation.

Scotland and Wales agreed to put pressure on British Prime Minister Burnham to make the necessary constitutional arrangements in the United Kingdom for independence, and Northern Ireland to unite with Ireland.
