Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler, accompanied by Naval Forces Commander Admiral Ercüment Tatlıoğlu and Air Forces Commander General Rafet Dalkıran, attended the reception held on the occasion of Malaysian National Day and Malaysian Armed Forces Day. Minister Güler, in his speech at the reception, said, "Relations between Turkey and Malaysia have continuously developed on the basis of friendship, mutual trust and common interests since our diplomatic ties established in 1964. The Strategic Partnership Declaration signed in 2014 and the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership announced in 2022 clearly reveal the level our relations have reached. We are taking this partnership, which is strengthened by our ancient friendship, further with a permanent and future-oriented cooperation approach based on mutual trust." "We are determined. The two countries are in close cooperation in many international platforms, especially the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the D-8. Stating that the field of defense industry has a special importance in Turkey-Malaysia relations, Minister Güler said, "The numerous cooperation documents signed between the defense industry companies of the two countries in 2019 have taken our partnership in this field to a further level. We also have a very valuable cooperation in the field of education. Our Malaysian youth studying in Türkiye constitute a permanent bridge of friendship between our countries. We see the further strengthening of these human ties, from education to culture, from tourism to the influence between our youth, as extremely valuable for the future of our relations. "Reciprocal high-level visits, such as the historic visit of Malaysian King Sultan Abdullah to our country in 2022, the mutual visits of our high-level statesmen have confirmed in the strongest way the friendly, deep and forward-looking character of our relations," he said.
