NATO informed about KFOR's activities and capacity optimization in Kosovo

In the statement made by NATO, it was noted that Kosovo Peace Force (KFOR) Commander Major General Özkan Ulutaş informed the permanent representatives of the allied countries about the activities of KFOR at the North Atlantic Council meeting.

In the statement, it was stated that the Western Balkans are of strategic importance for NATO and it was emphasized that the Alliance's determination to support security and regional stability in Kosovo is unshakable.

In the statement, NATO's decision to reduce the capacity of KFOR was reminded, and it was stated that this process would be implemented gradually, depending on the conditions, and that the process could be reversed if developments in the security field required.

In the statement, it was noted that KFOR will continue to have sufficient personnel, equipment, training and organizational structure to fulfill its mission, and will maintain the necessary capabilities, preparedness level and flexibility to respond to different security scenarios.

NATO announced on June 12 that there would be gradual optimization of KFOR's current personnel number and deployment, as the security situation in Kosovo has improved in recent years.
