Niners Chemnitz lose their Eurocup opener against Tofas Bursa 69:82

Basketball Bundesliga team Niners Chemnitz started the Eurocup with a clear defeat. Coach Rodrigo Pastore's team had to admit defeat to Turkish first division club Tofas Bursa 69:82 (30:46) on Tuesday evening. Phlandrous Fleming Jr. became Chemnitz's best thrower with 18 points.

The Niners started the game with a lot of speed, but fell behind significantly from the middle of the first quarter because they allowed themselves to lose too many balls against the defensive pressure of the hosts. With a 10-0 run, Bursa moved ahead to 22:13 (9th minute), and in the second quarter the Turkish lead grew steadily to 40:22 (17th). Chemnitz only hit one of 14 three-point attempts in the first half.

After the change, Chemnitz broke the rhythm of the hosts with a zone defense and now also found good solutions in attack. At the beginning of the last quarter they fought their way to 58:60 (33rd). In the final phase, however, the guests fell back into old patterns, so that Bursa ultimately won safely.
