The US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) announced in a briefing on this day that the cargo plane crossed over 'Runway 30' at Miami International Airport in Florida the previous day and sped about 400 meters further. At the same time, it collided with several vehicles and stopped right in front of the area where Tesla robotaxis were parked.

The van that crashed first was owned by a company that contracts with airlines for cleaning services. Of the seven people on board, five died and two are in critical condition. Afterwards, it passed through the fence outside the airport and collided with a car traveling on a four-lane road.

First, the abnormally late landing was pointed out as the cause of the accident. While flying horizontally without maneuvering to allow the rear landing gear to touch the ground first, the wheels touched the ground well past the normal point, and even when it left the runway, it ran at 209 km/h, CNN reported, citing aircraft tracking data.

One of the reasons is that I approached the runway through clouds and thunderstorms, and the wind direction suddenly changed right before landing, causing me to feel a tailwind. CNN reported that a social media video showed the left rear landing gear bouncing off the runway even when landing late.

Crucially, Miami Airport did not have a system (EMAS) to prevent aircraft from leaving the runway. It is said that the lack of EMAS, a braking bed that causes the wheels to stop when the concrete pad breaks when it collides with the aircraft, led to a fatal accident.

There were two pilots on board the Amazon cargo plane, and they were rescued immediately after the accident, but their current condition is not exactly known.

In the United States, two pilots were killed in a collision between an airplane and a fire truck at LaGuardia Airport in New York last March. In January of last year, a passenger plane and a U.S. military helicopter collided near the Potomac River in Washington, D.C., killing 67 people, and in November of the same year, a UPS cargo plane crashed in Louisville, Kentucky, killing 15 people.
