Omar Aziz defends review of outsourced contracts to balance Amazonas accounts

The candidate for the government of Amazonas, Omar Aziz (PSD), defended this Tuesday (15) the review of outsourced contracts signed by the Government of Amazonas as a way of reducing expenses and balancing public accounts. The statement was given to g1 after the interview given to Jornal do Amazonas 1st Edition, from Rede Amazônica.

Omar Aziz is running for the position through the "Força Amazonas" coalition, formed by the Social Democratic Party (PSD), Brazilian Democratic Movement (MDB) and Republicans. The candidate was governor of the state between 2010 and 2014 and was subsequently elected senator and re-elected to the position in 2022.

During the conversation, Omar stated that Amazonas' revenue is sufficient, but assessed that the increase in expenses and the taking out of loans have impacted state finances. As a proposal, he defended the review of outsourced contracts and the use of career State employees.

"This outsourcing that has taken place in the State, without taking advantage of the State's career civil servants, has caused you to enter a curve of no return. We have many professionals, many civil servants with the capacity to provide the same service that [outsourced workers] are providing today. Just today, to give you an idea, Detran-AM is hiring a company for 103 million reais. We don't even know what for, but they are making this type of contract. Just like there are other contracts that the State has to review. To give you an idea, 2 thousand vehicles are paid for per month. There are not 2 thousand vehicles running in the city of Manaus or in the State of Amazonas", he stated.

The candidate's agenda continues in the afternoon, with an internal meeting with leaders from the interior of Amazonas. At night, Omar takes part in a popular event in the West Zone of Manaus.

Elections 2026

The electoral campaign began on August 16 across the country. Candidates can now advertise on the streets and on the internet. On TV and radio, advertising began on August 28th. The first round of elections will be on October 4th.

This year, Brazilians will vote for:

president;

governor;

senator;

federal deputy;

state deputy.
