Operation seizes irregular goods in Roraima for the crime of embezzlement

The material was purchased in Lethem, in the neighboring country, and entered Brazil without paying taxes, which constitutes the crime of embezzlement. The Guyanese city is known as a cheap shopping paradise.

The operation had the support of the Military Police (PM) in action to combat the irregular sale of goods that enter Brazil without due legal registration.

🔎 The crime of embezzlement occurs when products enter the country or are transported without paying the taxes due or without tax documentation. The expected penalty is one to four years in prison.

The inspection seized the goods after identifying illegal practices related to the entry and irregular circulation of foreign products in the country.

Last week, the Federal Revenue also seized 21 boxes with more than 300 bottles of imported perfumes in two stores in Boa Vista. The agency also confiscated 97 bales of counterfeit team shirts, caps and sneakers during an inspection at a store in the capital.
