Operation Eirene II carries out 32 arrest warrants against a criminal group in Brazil

Twenty-one arrest warrants were served in Bahia this Wednesday (16), during Operation Eirene II. According to the Bahia Public Security Secretariat (SSP-BA), those arrested are suspected of being part of a group involved in drug trafficking, homicides, extortion, money laundering and other crimes.

During the operation, R$12 million in goods and assets belonging to those under investigation were also blocked.

In addition to Bahia, the operation served four arrest warrants in the state of São Paulo, five in Minas Gerais and one in Goiás. Across Brazil, 32 people were arrested.

In the state of Bahia, the 21 arrests were carried out in the following cities:

nine prisons in Jequié, in the southwest region;

six prisons in Vitória da Conquista, in the southwest region;

two prisons in Serrinha, in the sisal region;

a prison in Ilhéus, in the southern region;

a prison in Mutuípe, in the Jiquiriçá Valley;

a prison in Laje, around 235 km from Salvador;

a prison in Brumado, in the southwest region;

a prison in Salvador.

Information about the identities of those arrested has not yet been released.

The operation was carried out by the Integrated Force to Combat Organized Crime (FICCO) Bahia and the Military, Civil and Federal Police.
