NEW Party Chairman Özgür Özel met with olive producers in Zeytinli District of Balıkesir's Edremit district.
Speaking here, NEW Party leader Özel explained the crisis experienced by the olive producer by saying, "Throughout the ages, the olive producer has never gone hungry. But this year, the olive producer faced starvation, being unable to pay his debt and going bankrupt."

Olives have been collected here, olive oil has been pressed, olive cultivation has been carried out for more than two thousand years. There have been olives, olive cultivation, and olive harvesting in this land since ancient times. For the first time since ancient times, olive producers are in such a miserable state. We are facing a crisis not of the last three years or five years, but of a thousand years or two thousand years. Because throughout the ages, for two thousand years, there have been olives, olive trees, and production here. “TRUMP IMPOSED AN ADDITIONAL TAX ON EDREMIT OLIVE OIL”
Emphasizing the tax cost arising from the US administration on olive oil exports, Özel said, "Look, America benefits from the Erdoğan-Trump relationship, but Edremit does not." While Erdoğan was asking for an appointment from the party, they said, 'You will buy 250 planes to make an appointment with Trump.' He said, 'Agreed.' 'You will buy LNG and liquefied natural gas from us at the most expensive price.' He said, 'Okay.' 'You will remove the tax on American goods.' While he was still on the plane, he reduced the tax on American goods. 'You will declare taxes on Chinese goods.' He imposed taxes on Chinese goods. 'You will give us the rare earth elements.' He made Eskişehir's promise and left. Trump is pushing a chair under this, chair after chair. So pleased. Here too, pro-government television channels are happy. 'Trump held a chair for us, Trump held a chair for us.' Then Trump sold the plane, sold the gas, lowered the tax, and imposed taxes on Chinese goods. He was going to give us a KAAN engine, but he didn't. F35? He kicked it out of the program, 'We said we would come back', but he didn't let it in. F16 did not modernize. Do you know what he did? Trump imposed a 12.5 percent tax on olive oil coming from Turkey. In other words, America gains from the Erdogan-Trump relationship. The factory that produces those planes wins, and those selling liquid natural gas win. Those who sell American goods to Turkey sell them with low taxes and earn money. But Edremit's olive oil pays an additional 12.5 percent tax when entering America. Here is the responsibility of the state; "On the contrary, Trump gives legitimacy to this, which does whatever Trump wants, but when it comes to Edremit's olive oil, Trump applies to our olive oil what he does not apply to other countries," he said.
OLIVES WILL BE A STRATEGIC PRODUCT
Explaining the policy they will implement regarding olive production during the NEW Party government, Özel said, "We will put olives and olive oil among the strategic products. There are 250 million olive trees in Turkey, which are mentioned in all the holy books, have pictures and prints in the oldest ruins, and are both so valuable and important in terms of health and economy. We will put this product on the list of strategic products, both for our health, for our economy, and for the utilization of employment and especially women's labor. In other words, this product will be considered one of the most strategic products of the country. Yield, stock and export figures will be regularly monitored on the internet. This year, they did not listen to the warnings that 'The biggest yield in history is coming', they did not announce the yield, they did not take any precautions. This is the reason for today's misery. 'Sir, let's not increase the price in Turkey, let's protect the consumer.' The way to protect the consumer is not to make the producer lose the market. As soon as you impose an export ban, those who cannot buy olive oil sold abroad from you are leaving. He says, "I am happy with my trade, I won't risk it." That's why the state will make regular purchases of olives and olive oil. "This year, it will buy a lot. It will cover the exports from there. If necessary, it will make international connections and if the amount of olive oil in Turkey is low, it will fulfill its commitment."
Özel said, "We know all the problems of the olive producer. To overcome this year's big problem, we offer premium support directly to the producer as 20 lira for olives and 50 lira for olive oil. From now on, we are changing this government together. We are making our olives and olive oil a world brand. We make you all smile. Do we agree? I love you all very much, I'm glad to have you. May your products be fruitful. Each of you is as tall as an olive tree, as tall as an olive." "I wish you a fruitful, healthy life like olive oil. Thank you, long live," he concluded his words.
"NO ONE HAS ANY PATIENCE LEFT"
NEW Party Chairman Özgür Özel later met with the citizens who welcomed him in Edremit's Zeytinli District. NEW Party leader Özel, in his speech here, said, "No one has any patience for this government. That's why people are running wherever they can make their voices heard. Referring to the increase in pressure on the press in his speech, Özel made the following statements:
"With their latest actions, they tried to silence us by blocking access to newspapers and websites, blocking access to parties, shutting down Halk TV, turning off televisions. While I was talking inside, a slogan was coming from outside, the solution to everything is in that slogan. It is this: 'There is no salvation alone, all together or none of us.' In other words, the tea producer in Rize, the peanut producer in Gaziantep, the grapes in Manisa, the hazelnuts in Giresun, Ordu, The cotton producers in Çukurova and the wheat producers in Thrace cannot be saved alone. The tradesmen cannot be saved unless the peasants are saved. There is no salvation alone, we all suffer together. That's why you did the right thing. They ask me, 'Well, they don't stop, they attack, oppress, arrest, they don't have mercy on women, they don't have mercy on children, what will we do?' I say to those who ask, do what Edremit did. We have programs all day long. Those who can come should come. Those who return to their village should say hello to their spouses and children. I kiss the hands of the elders at home. We will succeed together.
