Compensation decision announced in the Kim Kardashian robbery case in Paris

A court in Paris announced its decision in the compensation case filed by Kim Kardashian, who was robbed by armed men in the hotel she was staying in in 2016.

The court ruled that Kardashian be paid a symbolic compensation of 1 euro, the amount she requested. Kardashian's stylist Simone Harouche was also entitled to the same amount of compensation.

Kardashian and Harouche stated in their joint statement after the decision that what happened left a permanent trauma on them.

The duo stated that the decision was important in terms of legal recognition of what happened and responsibility rather than financial compensation.

109 THOUSAND EURO TO HOTEL EMPLOYEE

It was decided to pay compensation of 109 thousand 516 euros to the former receptionist who worked at Hôtel de Pourtalès at the time of the robbery.

The hotel employee stated that he suffered severe psychological trauma due to the incident and demanded compensation of 550 thousand euros.

The court also ruled that the hotel be given 50 thousand euros in compensation.

The robbery occurred during Paris Fashion Week on October 2, 2016.

Two people disguised as police entered the room where Kardashian was staying, tied her hands with plastic handcuffs and tape, and ran away with jewelry worth millions of dollars.

Among the stolen items was an engagement ring worth approximately $4 million, gifted by Kardashian's then-husband, Kanye West. Most of the jewels have not been found to date.

In her statement in the criminal case heard in 2025, Kardashian explained that she thought she would die during the robbery.

Kardashian, who later described what happened as "the scariest experience of my life", stated that the incident had lasting effects on her and her family.

Since most of the members of the group who carried out the robbery were at an advanced age, the suspects were referred to as "Les Papys Braqueurs", that is, "The Grandfather Robbers" in the French press.

In the case concluded in 2025, eight people were found guilty for their roles in the robbery. Since the periods the defendants spent in detention were deducted from their sentences, none of the convicted were sent back to prison. There were no objections to the decisions.

Kardashian, on the other hand, thanked the French authorities after the convictions and stated that she could not forget what happened, but that the concepts of justice and responsibility were important to her.
