The Italian Confederation of Managers denounces the erosion of purchasing power for medium-high pensions and the risks linked to the new Budget Law
AI-generated summary
Since 2012, repeated legislative interventions have limited the automatic equalization of medium-high pensions, reducing their real value.
Up to 200 thousand euros lost in fourteen years, with the risk of a further penalty of 3 thousand euros in 2027 alone. This is the balance - highlights Cida, the Italian Confederation of Managers and High Professionals - of the repeated interventions on the revaluation of medium-high pensions which, «from 2012 to today, have progressively eroded the value of the allowances of those who have paid high social security contributions during their lives work".
A process that does not only concern the income of today's pensioners, the Confederation reports, but raises a broader question of fairness and confidence in the stability of the social security system, especially for the younger generations.
For management retirees, repeated lockdowns and limitations on automatic equalization have resulted in a loss of purchasing power of more than 21%. A phenomenon which, although with more limited effects, also affects a vast audience of retirees from high professional levels, both in the public and private sectors. And which risks worsening further in 2027, if the provisions contained in the Budget Bill, being examined by the Chamber at first reading, are confirmed.
«Fourteen years of penalties have already produced very significant losses and now, with the next Budget Law, we risk adding more. We cannot continue to always ask sacrifices from the same citizens, especially from those who have worked for decades, paying contributions proportionate to their salaries and respecting all the rules", underlines Stefano Cuzzilla, president of Cida.
The simulations indicate, for next year, a gap compared to full indexation of 2.07% for a pension of 5,500 euros gross monthly and of 2.24% for one of 10,000 euros, according to the calculation hypotheses adopted. What makes the scope of these penalties concrete are the calculations on the individual pension profiles. For a Senior Manager / Manager with a pension of 5,500 euros gross per month, the cumulative loss since 2012 reaches approximately 96 thousand euros, the equivalent of 17 net monthly payments. In 2027 alone, a further loss of 1,530 euros is estimated. For higher pensions, the bill can reach close to 200 thousand euros, to which another 3 thousand euros could be added in 2027.
