Care abroad: German seniors move to Lake Balaton

Annelies Dietzel used to often go on vacation to Lake Balaton in western Hungary. In the summer, tourists flock to the meadows here. A little further away, up the hills, it becomes quieter. Small villages and wide fields characterize the picture. For the 91-year-old, it is a place of longing, just like for many who grew up in the GDR. When Dietzel heard nine years ago that there was a senior citizens' facility for Germans in the village of Nemesbük, she called them immediately. Two months later she packed the moving boxes in Plauen, Saxony.
