President Trump Posts Stock Market Meme Amid Financial Disclosure Controversy

President Donald Trump has posted a meme of himself playing the stock market from the Oval Office on Truth Social with the declaration: “I do this for our Country, not myself.”

The image, part of a deluge of posts he made on his platform late Sunday, showed the president perched behind the Resolute Desk closely studying trading data across four monitors and profiting from a $75 rise in Intel’s share price.

“I’ve made Hundreds of Billions of Dollars on Stocks, and many other type Holdings, for the U.S.A., not myself, and all I do is get criticized by the Radical Left Dumocrats,” his caption continued. “Very unfair, but what can you do!”

A Gallup poll published last week found that 90 percent of Americans now believe the U.S. government and its political leaders are corrupt, a mood the president appeared to be alluding to in his post.

Trump’s most recent financial disclosure revealed he made $2.2 billion in 2025, sparking accusations from his opponents that he has been profiteering from the presidency in his second term.

The choice of Intel as the company used in the meme is significant because Office of Government Ethics filings revealed that the president bought shares in the microchip-maker on several occasions earlier this year, despite the U.S. government acquiring a 10 percent stake in the company in August 2025, (a passive ownership deal that did not grant it governance rights).

According to the OGE, Trump bought between $50,000 and $100,000 worth of Intel shares on February 3 and made further smaller investments on March 11, 13, 17 and 23 – just some of the 3,600 stock trades he engaged in in the first quarter of 2026 alone, worth more than $100 million in total.

The president addressed his growing personal fortune in July, insisting it all derives from the efforts of his financial advisers, rather than any deliberate effort to cash in on power.

“I’ve made a lot of money before I became president, and they invest my money, and I don't talk to them,” he told reporters.

“I never – I don’t even speak to them. I think it’s called the blind account, but they basically, they take it, and I purposely, I never speak to any of the people that run the money, but they’re at big institutions, and they invest in whatever they invest.

“You know why I’m profiting? Because the stock market’s going up, everybody’s profiting... So we’re all profiting. I’m profiting because I have a lot of money and a lot of cash, and I give it to institutions.”

Trump posted a number of other memes over the weekend, several of which found him posturing against Iran and imagining new uniforms for Space Force, the latter immediately derided online for resembling those worn by “the evil bad guys from Star Wars.”

Others cast Trump as the late Hulk Hogan and presented him hanging out at the White House with George Washington and posing beside enormous Transformers-inspired robots, carrying ominous slogans such as “GIVE THEM NIGHTMARES” and “THEY WILL DREAM OF US FOREVER.”

In others, he mocked his long-term enemy Robert De Niro – who also appeared in his recent “Trump Derangement Syndrome” spoof infomercial – battled Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on the ice as rival hockey players and entertained the prospect of renaming New Mexico “New America.”

There was the usual array of favorable press clipping from conservative media outlets, further slurs against the Democrats, including his calling Michigan Rep. Debbie Dingell “Debbie Dingbat,” and praise for pet Republicans such as Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier and Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan.

The spree ended with his posting two extended clips of Fox News host Mark Levin promoting Victor Davis Hanson’s new book The Counter Revolution, which Trump hailed in a separate post by saying the author “understands me, perhaps better, than I understand myself.”
