Prof. Dr. Mustafa Pultar passed away

Prof., a retired faculty member of METU Faculty of Architecture, has contributed to the institutionalization of the fields of building sciences and architecture in Turkey and to the development of their theoretical foundations. Dr. Mustafa Pultar (86) passed away.

Pultar, who completed his undergraduate education at Robert College School of Engineering in 1960, received his master's and doctorate degrees from Princeton University. During his academic position at METU Department of Architecture between 1968 and 1991; Pultar, who made significant contributions to the development of building science, environmental design and structure fields, pioneered the training of many architects and academicians. Pulsar served as Deputy Dean of METU Faculty of Architecture between 1970 and 1972, and as Dean of the Faculty of Architecture between 1978 and 1982.

In addition to his academic and managerial studies, Pultar served as the President of TÜBİTAK Building Research Institute between 1982 and 1984, and also held important academic and administrative responsibilities, such as being a faculty member of Bilkent University Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture and the founding director of Bilkent Preparatory School (BUPS). With his multidisciplinary studies and rich intellectual knowledge in the fields of environmental-behavioral sciences, building performance, value systems and maritime/marine culture, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Pultar's funeral will be held tomorrow at Bostancı Kuloğlu Mosque and will be buried in İçerenköy Cemetery Family Cemetery after the afternoon prayer.
