Renan Santos, from MBL, stands out in Quaest research and criticizes João Campos and Alexandre de Moraes

The Quaest survey released on Wednesday (2) showed that, in the stimulated scenario of the first round, Augusto Cury reached 10% of voting intentions and took third place. The writer left behind traditional opponents of the so-called third way, such as Renan Santos (Missão), who scored 3%, in addition to Ronaldo Caiado (PSD) and Romeu Zema (Novo), who scored 1% each.

Newcomer in a presidential contest, Renan Santos from São Paulo is a businessman and one of the founders of Movimento Brasil Livre (MBL), created in 2014. He studied law at the University of São Paulo (USP), but did not complete his degree. Public security and the fight against organized crime are the main axes of his government program.

"I started my pre-campaign here in Recife. And I'm continuing it, and I'm now going to do a Recife, Fortaleza and São Luís do Maranhão leg. And my objective is the same, let's talk about the problems of the Northeast and the solutions of the Northeast. I'm very optimistic about the future. The present of the Northeast is very bad, but the future could be very good", said the candidate during a press conference.

The presidential candidate also commented on the polarized dispute for the government of Pernambuco between the governor and candidate for re-election, Raquel Lyra (PSD), who is leading the polls, and the former mayor of Recife João Campos (PSB), who, in the latest polls, appears in second place. Renan Santos declared support for his party's candidate for state government, Renan Hallais, and criticized João Campos and his family.

"Firstly, I'm very happy, including seeing Renan, my namesake. If my election is an election of David against Goliath, his has nothing to say. [...] And, naturally, I dislike João Campos. I dislike his dynasty. [...] I will oppose them in every way", he declared.

"It's devastating. We no longer have a country. I think that's the central point. There is no longer a country, there is no more institutionality. [...] The involvement, to speak of the two most famous, Alexandre de Moraes and Dias Toffoli, in the Banco Master scandal, is blatant. And the fact that they are mobilizing as they are, to avoid anything, is a symptom of this", he declared.

Alongside supporters, candidates for state and federal deputy for Missão and the candidate for governor of Pernambuco, Renan Hallais, Santos spoke during the congress and made an appeal for his supporters to maintain mobilization during the campaign.

"Brazil has to make a choice. And this is the moment that we will influence the choice. Whoever gives up, doesn't fight. So, whoever is preaching giving up will not have the strength to convince other people. Two, the cynics will have no arguments. Neither PT nor Bolsonarists will be able to justify what will happen in the coming days and weeks. And three, we who have the greatest energy of all, we who have the truth on our side, have to work harder than them," he said.
