Nuclear-capable Tu-95 bomber crashed in Russia: 6 dead

In the statement made by the Russian Ministry of Defense, it was stated that the nuclear-capable Tu-95 bomber crashed in a deserted area near the village of Krasnoyarovo on the Zeya River in the Amur region, close to the Chinese border. It was reported that the plane was performing a training flight and was not carrying ammunition.

It was stated that 6 crew members died and 1 crew member was injured in the accident. It was noted that an investigation team went to the area to determine the cause of the accident.

Tu-95 is known as a nuclear-capable, 4-engine turboprop strategic bomber that has been in service since the Cold War era. The Russian military has extensively used this large warplane to launch cruise missiles armed with conventional weapons against Ukraine throughout the war, which lasted more than 4.5 years.

Some Tu-95 aircraft belonging to the Russian air force were destroyed or damaged during the "Spider Web" operation, in which Ukraine targeted various air bases hosting long-range bombers across Russia with unmanned aerial vehicles secretly launched from trucks in June 2025.
