Operation against DAESH's financial network in Sakarya: 3 detained

Under the coordination of the Sakarya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the teams of the Sakarya Provincial Police Department's Anti-Terrorism (TEM) Branch Directorate were working to prevent the actions and activities of the terrorist organization DAESH, and 3 suspects, 2 Syrian and 1 Iraqi national, were identified, about whom there were statements and diagnoses that they were operating within the organization and making unregistered money transfers (hawala), and whose money transfer and communication records with members of the organization were identified in the HTS and MASAK reports.

In order to catch the suspects, a simultaneous operation was organized at the addresses determined in Adapazarı, Serdivan and Karasu districts, with the support of Special Operations police. While 3 suspects were detained during the operation, a large number of digital materials and hawala receipts for illegal money transfers were seized during the searches at residences.

One of the suspects, who was referred to the courthouse after being processed at the police station, was arrested and sent to prison on the charge of 'financing terrorism'. The other 2 suspects who were released were handed over to the Removal Center (GÖKSEM) for deportation.
