Samuel Pihlström's feat - took EC silver in 1,500 meters after a great sprint

Samuel Pihlström looked to be in a hopeless position in the 1,500m final - last of all as the final bend begins.

But the Swede showed a sprint that did not stop, swept past the opponents and finished second.

- Look at that rocket, just look! What a pick-up he does, says SVT's expert Alhaji Jeng.

The protagonist himself always believed that a medal was possible.

- I didn't feel like it was over. On the last lap I needed to be a little cool. It's crazy, I come into the race really well and I felt really strong. To just take them one by one and slide up to second place, it shouldn't go with being last on the last lap, it's absolutely incredible, says Pihlström.

Praised by Almgren: "Damn, how incredible"

At the finish, Pihlström could cheer and celebrate together with Andreas Almgren, who only minutes earlier secured an EC gold in the 10,000 meters.

- The fastest I ran today was when I met Samuel, it's almost that I was happier there than when I crossed the finish line myself. Damn, how incredible it was, says Almgren.

He says that he and Pihlström share a room during the EC.

- We have to share rooms all the time, because it can't get any better than this, says Almgren.

Pihlström's time stood at 3.36.16. The Netherlands' Stefan Nillessen won.

- He does it in a completely insane way, the last 200 meters of Samuel Pihlström is completely, completely incomparable! says Jacob Hard.
